Industrial Technology Wood Shop

6th, 7th and 8th Grade

• Our Holmes Wood Shop is training students how to use jobsite construction tools and power tools, which will set them up for success in the Architecture and Construction programs at Coronado High School.
• Holmes is the only middle school in D-11 with a woodshop and construction program.

Industry Basics (Wood Shop) The primary focus of this class is to cultivate some of the basic skills required in industry.  Students will enhance their ability to read a ruler.  Students are then introduced to basic shop safety and will then get the opportunity to demonstrate skills using hand tools to build an accurately scaled project out of wood.  The course follows a blended learning format meaning that most of the instruction is personalized, following an online curriculum that students can access and work through at their own pace.
