HOLMES MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS

Season 2 sports begins September 28 and run through November 13.

Season 2 Sports:

• Wrestling – Co-Ed
• Girls Soccer

ATHLETIC PAPERWORK DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 25

All required athletic paperwork must be submitted and cleared by Friday, September 25, so students are ready to participate when Season 2 begins.

BEFORE YOUR STUDENT CAN PARTICIPATE:

1. Complete a Sports Physical
Your student must have a current sports physical submitted through Bound Sports or the Bound Sports App.

2. Complete All Required Bound Sports Paperwork
Parents/guardians must complete the required forms in Bound, including:

• Assumption of Risk Form
• Student-Parent Athletic Handbook
• All other required athletic participation forms

3. Pick Up the Emergency "Blue" Card
Once all required paperwork has been submitted and cleared by the school office, your student must stop by the Main Office to pick up their Emergency Blue Card.

Season 1 Student-Athletes:
If your student participated in a Season 1 sport, they do not need to complete the entire registration process again. They only need to stop by the Main Office to receive a new Blue Card for their Season 2 sport, provided their required paperwork remains current and cleared.

4. Give the Blue Card to the Coach
Students must bring their Emergency Blue Card to their coach at their first practice or tryout.

IMPORTANT

Students will not be permitted to participate in practices, tryouts, or competitions until all required athletic paperwork has been cleared, and they have received their Emergency Blue Card.

Please complete all required steps by Friday, September 25 to ensure your student is cleared and ready to participate when Season 2 begins on September 28.

ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility will be determined as follows:

• Each athlete must have a current (within 365 days) physical/yellow card, emergency blue card, and the D11 Participation form on file before the season begins in order to try out or participate.  

• Students must have prior quarter eligibility. This means that students must complete the quarter prior to the start of the season with no more than one F on their quarter report card to be eligible to join the team or to try out for the team. Fall sports will be based on 4th quarter from the previous year.  

• Eligibility requires scores of 2.5 or above in 5 of 6 classes each week. • Grade reports are pulled each Thursday and ineligible students are reported to the coach(es). Coach(es) will communicate ineligibility to the student. By Monday morning, if the student has not brought up the ineligible grade, he/she will remain ineligible for the remainder of the week.

• If a student is suspended from school on the day of an event, they may not participate in that event. If they are suspended on Friday, they may not participate in the weekend events.  

• If an athlete is deemed ineligible from grade reports, they will be ineligible the following week (Tuesday through Saturday).  

• If an athlete is ineligible, they are still expected to practice with the team and to support the team at games/meets while out of uniform.  • Students must be in attendance at school 50% or more on the day of an event.

• Basketball, Soccer and Volleyball are cut sports. Tryouts will be held and teams will be selected using a rubric. Students will be evaluated on skill, game sense, coachability, and academic performance.
